The English Premier League 2015-16 did prove to be a nightmare for the defending champions with more than half a dozen setbacks in the last twelve fixtures.
The 24th English Premier League acquainted a lot of excitement and thrills as well as uncertainties. Manchester City are currently leading the early half of the league followed immediately by the Gunners and their bitter rivals Manchester United in the fourth position. Manuel Pellegrini is over the moon with his teams’ outstanding run. On the counterpart, his tart rival Jose Mourinho is absolutely fidgety after his teams scandalized performance in the last dozen of games. It seems like the players are lacking rhythms in their game and a string of poor performance clearly asserts that they are recently down in the mouth. The manager appears to have been scratching his head for a glimpse of changes in fortune, but the current aspect of some of his best players is going downhill. The fans get overwrought day by day with a silence of disappointment all over the ground after every flimsy loss. The players as well as the manager seems to encounter a lot of stick from the fans for their recent rut. Pundits and some of the players are shielding their manager regarding the rumors about the termination of managerial post of Mourinho at the club. According to the retired English footballer Jamie Red Knapp “To be in this situation now is unprecedented. I can’t remember a team ever performing like this after winning a title.” Reportedly, the news of Eden Hazard claiming to be away from the team for a new home came as a bolt from the blue in such ghastly crisis. The Chelsea wizard shook up the whole squad as well as the fans with this gossip since he is considered to be one of the preeminent build up player in the team and a wide midfielder of his caliber will be hard to replace. Deliberately, the new signing Pedro is anguished with his decision to move to the new club. The fans and pundits are smelling a rat regarding some internal matter in the club.
It’s high time when Chelsea should move up with a fresh motivation and agenda in order to regain their dicey glory before it’s too late. There are some valid reasons behind their failure, which is to be pointed out legitimately.
Beginning with the form of the strikers (especially Diego Costa), which appears to dwindle day by day. It has been a quite unclouded matter after some dreadful misses in the past few fixtures. He appears to run an appalling spell when he can do nothing right to justify himself in the first eleven team sheet.
The lack communication and understanding among the midfielders were discernible. Miss passes were plenty and the aggressiveness in their attack was deficient. The midfielders seemed to struggle to keep possession with the ball.
Last but not the least, the defence was somewhat passive. The defenders struggled to make their impression by clearing the ball at the right moment.
Chelsea is almost at their wits end and it’s the time to obliterate waters under the bridge, bounce back and strive towards victory to get their cadence back and make their presence known in the league.
