Indian Railways is all set to launch their Make in India railway coaches soon and the trial runs for these coaches has already commenced between Bhopal and Bina railway stations in Madhya Pradesh. The coaches are uber comfortable and designed with many high-end features. The train experience will make it relatively more comfortable and convenient, for both, sleeper and sitting coaches with lesser jerks, better food, better sanitation and even a better decor. The new coaches have been made in India under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s new ‘Make in India’ campaign. The new coaches are manufactured in the Coach Rehabilitation Workshop (CRWS) in Nishaputra, Bhopal.
The project was actually launched 4 years previously, in 2011 by the Indian Railways and the coaches were designed by West Central Railway (WCR) with all modern features and amenities. However, it was only now under the Make in India campaign that the coaches finally are getting a trial run and the features being explored. A total of 111 coaches are planned (87 non AC coaches, 17 coaches for 3-tier AC, five for 2-tier AC and one each for 1-tier AC. Chair car coaches are also planned) of which the trial run was done with 24 coaches at the speed of 120 kilometer per hour. Railways Ministry plans to run the coaches soon and the coaches will first run on premium trains like Rajdhani and Shatabdi and slowly, will be rolled out across all passenger trains in India.
