I see Many young girls feel offended while being called as a Feminist not because they hate to be one, but because it’s used in the likes of hooligans. On the eve of women’s day, let’s check ourselves if feminism is really that bad!!!
So, whatever we today take for granted and think they are basic, were fought by people of yester generation. It’s their sacrifices, blood and sweat we are basking on. The only favor we can possibly do to all those great souls is not to make feminism sound like a bad word.
Let’s forget about feminism for now and look at our lives as a human. What do the stats tell us?
The stats say that Both lives of men and women are hell. So, who has put both the lives of our brothers and sisters at stake? If this is the case, then who is the culprit? It’s all of us again collectively.
Even before discussing any serious issues, an example video, the comments/captions/re shares on various social media platforms shows how miserably we fail at this. A little common sense would do good in the scenarios like below.
Either the girl or guy can choose to move a little further away from each other before he could fall on her for the 2nd time than moving in the end after the guy slaps her. Isn’t that a pure Ego clash?
It reminds me of Two goats crossing the bridge at the same time and decide not to step back thinking why it should only be them who’s going to step back. So, they end up falling into the river and die.
Are we heading towards there? Are we still stuck there like goats even after all the lessons in life?
A little common sense would do good and forget about feminism, I don’t see a place for genders there.
All the stringent laws to protect women are not definitely useful if the accused is influential.
So, do we really need to struggle so much to keep feminism alive. Can we not kill it now? Is it not enough? How long is it going to be?
I don’t even know. I’m thankful to all the feminists out there who made my life a possibility. Without a Rajaram Mohan Roy or Savitribai Phule, the earliest feminists of India who saw the struggle of their mothers, wives and daughters and went out on streets to become the voice of the voiceless. They are the ones who gave many fathers an opportunity/courage to save their daughters from being burnt to ashes by now through Sati(practice). Let’s be proud of all the good things that feminism gave us. There are many like us who would still need absolute support to protect themselves from jackals of this jungle.
Without that, the stronger would exploit the weak and everyone would try to become the strongest and chase that dream until they die. Be it men vs men or women vs women or men vs women.
We would be chasing life instead of living it!!!
With True Spirit of Feminism, Some good words for the day …
‘Address to the Women of America’ (1971): ‘This is no simple reform. It really is a revolution. Sex and race, because they are easy, visible differences, have been the primary ways of organizing human beings into superior and inferior groups, and into the cheap labor on which this system still depends. We are talking about a society in which there will be no roles other than those chosen, or those earned. We are really talking about humanism.’
Even I wish we could send off feminism soon. But for that we need to achieve equality which demands common sense and cooperation. Are we ready for that? Let’s strive collectively together to be a blessing to each other.
Finally, A little cooperation between men and women would do instead of racing against each other to give our future generation a better world. Does this make sense to you?
